Pics now on a map (or 2 actually)....

So here I am again, with not much more to tell you since the last time, so I'll just waffle for a bit................

We went Whale Watching last weekend, saw two Humpbacks, they are massive, up to 15m long and weigh 35 tonnes. The boat we were on was 17m long and weighed 50 tonnes so it gives you some perspective. We went down with Michael (see him here) who was good enough to drive us. This was our second trip down this way after going a month ago to go Whale Watching but the sea was too rough that time so we had to turn back, so last weekend was using up our free return trip.

We were on the boat quite a while before they got reports of a sighting, but we spotted them we got suprisingly close. Unfortunately we didn't see any massive breaches of the water, but we did see some big humps and big tail fins splashing down. Because we'd spent so long chasing them we had to head back to shore after 15/20mins of watching them which was a bit disappointing. However, they are amazing to see up close (even if you can't see all of them!). We also saw some Penguins, Seals and Dolphins on the trip so they were a bit of an unexpected bonus. Hopefully get some pics up soon.

The Whales migrate north to breed in warmer water and will shortly be turning around to come back again so June - November is a good time to see them off the East or West coast of Oz. With any luck we'll see some more on our trip up the coast.......

......which I don't think you all know about yet either. For those that don't know, we've booked a Campervan for 7 weeks to journey up to Cairns in it, you might say we're 'going bush'. The van has a fridge and a cooker but we'll be scouring the outback for dunnies and showers. We pick it up on the 8th August (after finishing work - hurrah!) and will begin our journey to sunny Queensland then. Enough about what's to come though, there's plenty of time for that later.

What I really wanted to tell you in this entry is that you may have noticed there are two new links on the right hand side of this page just below the photo's. They are fancy little maps that will show you exactly where our photo's have been taken in world. For those of you that like Google Earth this ones for you Google Maps Flickrmap and for those of you that want to see a route of our trip this ones for you Rich and Kates Flickrmap. You can actually load the pic locations into your own copy of Google Earth using the second one if you want to 'fly' around looking at them!

So these will hopefully update as we go, and we'll try to get them as close to their real locations as possible for ya!

Enjoy!
